Common Dinner Salad

Simple salad but oh so good!

Butter leaf lettuce, spinach, shredded carrots, basil, tomatoes, red onions and cubed moz. Scheese with balsamic vinegar dressing.

I am a big fan of the salad spinner. The lettuce we had was about 2 weeks old and wilting. I just chopped it up and put it in the salad spinner with cold water and within 10 minutes it came back to life and was crunchy. You could do this with any bowl, but what makes the salad spinner so great is that it gets out all that extra water in the leaf folds.

I love my salad spinner too--they really are amazing things.

Ahh, so that's what a salad spinner is for! I was rather perplexed watching an in-law with one of those at xmas... interesting.

Thanks Laura!
Renee- I've found that a salad will keep much longer in the fridge when in the salad spinner bowl as well.

Hi! :) Thanks for coming by my blog!

Your salad looks so healthy and good. Funny, how I often overlook such a perfect lunch like that!

I have never had a salad spinner, but my mum has one and loves it. I think that's my next kitchen purchase!

Candi- I was inspired by another blog to post some of my more simple dinners, not just the planned ones. It's always nice to see what others eat.

Thank you UV! You should check out my maple chard salad with blueberries from july! That was a fun salad to shoot.

Hi Webly!
It was nice to meet you on sunday. You know, my cousin from Germany visited me last year and she had never seen a salad spinner before.
I didn't know it was possible to live without one.

It should also be mentioned here that salad dressing sticks to dry leaves better wet ones, and who likes having a big puddle of water in the bottom of the salad bowl, anyway?

Erica - It was nice meeting you too. You're right about salad dressing sticking to the lettuce and not having that wet puddle at the end of the salad. yuck.
