Chicago Vegan Restaurants

Tomorrow I hop on a plane to go to Chicago to see The Dead Milkmen at Riot Fest. I don't know what I am more excited about, going to see The Dead Milkmen, a band I have loved since I was a kid, but have never seen; Visiting and experiencing Frank Llyod Wright's early work; and eating at vegan restaurants like The Chicago Diner, Green Zebra, and Handelbar. Let me know if you have a favorite Chicago restaurant and I will do my best to visit.

We really loved the Earwax cafe in Chicago. It was so good that we went back again on a short trip. I had a plate with the best curry-tasting hummus ever!

chicago diner!! get any of the sams - they are all pretty good. and you get a side too, so you can usually end up taking half the sam home for later! they also have really good milkshakes - my fav is the cookie dough peanut butter. green zebra is delicious but very expensive, and usually they only have a few vegan things.

Definitely check out my friends cafe, delicious cafe (http://www.deliciouscafechicago.com) on the northside. They offer tons of great vegan treats, sandwiches, and even some specials everyday. They only serve vegan food and they support tons of local vegan food maker (their vegan cheeses and vegan pastries come from local producers). When your done with that check out my blog at www.theapeman.blogspot.com.

Please go to Karyn's Cooked if you're anywhere around downtown. Everything is fabulous!

I hope you had fun! My husband was at Riot Fest working for Cock SParrer. He went for his usual, a Reuben & Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Shake at the Chicago Diner!
